Florent A Zeng Tshibwid : Master candidate in Pediatric Surgery at the Université Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal

On 29 and 30 May 2019, the School of Public Health of the Université de Lubumbashi organized its Scientific Days under the main theme: “Universal Health Coverage and Objectives of Sustainable Development: What Strategies for DRC?” During those two days, 130 people, mainly members of the academic staff of the School of Public Health, attended the presentations.

Florent made an oral presentation on his graduation work: “Evaluation of Active Management of the Third Stage of Labor (AMTSL) at the University Clinics of Lubumbashi”..

He sustained that AMTSL is a key method to prevent postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), which is the first cause of maternal mortality in the world, of which 99% of all cases occur in developing countries.

The DRC has the tenth-highest maternal mortality rate worldwide. Therefore, the correct use of AMTSL will help our country to save many lives. Florent’s work was awarded the Best-Abstract Prize by the scientific committee of the Scientific Days. Florent is the current Vice-Prime Speaker of the BEBUC scholars.

All the best for your next steps! BEBUC is proud of you!
